Below is our list of seasonal happenings in Bloomington and surrounding towns. If you’d like your event added to the list, please e-mail Rob Humphrey. Happy Holidays from all of us at WGCL!

December

  • 3rd – The final Senior Day of 2014 will be special, because The Nightingales will perform. The event begins Wednesday, December 03rd at 10:00am at The Salvation Army (111 N. Rogers St. Bloomington, IN 47404).  The Nightingales are a group of men and women who love to sing. They will present their holiday concert and then lead the participants in Christmas Caroling. This event is free and open to the public so join us for holiday songs! Refreshments will be served.  If you have questions please contact Lt. Shannon Forney at (812) 336-4310 x103.
  • 4th – Creating Handmade Snow Globes! When: 1:00 – 3:00 pm, Thursday, December 4 Where: The Endwright Center, 631 W. Edgewood Dr, Ellettsville, 47429 Who: Sarah Harris (Ivy Tech) Cost: $5 About: Would you like to make a unique holiday snow globe customized with your own joyful memories? Please join Sarah Harris in creating a “like-no-other” holiday keepsake at the Endwright Center. You’ll be tempted to keep it for yourself but these globes also make a perfect holiday gift for someone you love! Call the Center for the supply list and to register: 812-876-3383, ext 515.
  • 5th –  Holiday Concert & Open House! 10:30 am – 12:00 pm, Friday, December 5, The Endwright Center, 631 W. Edgewood Dr, Ellettsville, 47429, Edgewood Intermediate Choir, the Nightingales, A Hawaiian Christmas with Carol Reynolds, Nathan Dillon, and special guest musicians: Jim Krause, Anne Hurley, and Amanda Biggs. FREE (donations greatly appreciated to help fun our free classes and programs)
  • 6th – The public is invited to a Holiday Craft and Bake Sale at Unity of Bloomington on Saturday, December 6, 2014, from 10 a.m.- Noon. Shoppers will find a wide variety of items from crocheted clothing to blown glass, all made by members of the Unity community. A selection of home-made baked goods will round out the offerings. Unity of Bloomington is located at 4001 S. Rogers Street, at the intersection of Rogers Street and Gordon Pike.   • 10th – ART DAY at the Endwright Center: Two Holiday Workshops! Where: The Endwright Center, 631 W. Edgewood Drive, Ellettsville, 47429 Workshop #1: Creating Colorful Gourd Ornaments  When: 9:00 – 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 10 Who: Instructor, Holly Drummond Cost: $15  About: Join us for a two hour workshop with artist, Holly Drummond. You will decorate a locally grown gourd for the holiday season. Your hand painted gourd will make an excellent gift! One gourd and supplies are provided, but feel free to bring your favorite acrylic or watercolor brushes, or use what the center has on hand. $15 (or $25 for both workshops). Additional gourds available for purchase.  11:00 am – Noon: Take a break between workshops or keep working on your gourd ornaments while you eat your lunch (bring your own brown bag lunch). Beverages, coffee and cookies provided by the Center! Workshop #2: Making Festive Paper Wreaths When: 12:00 – 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 10 Who: Instructor, Holly Drummond Cost: $15  About: Join us for a two hour workshop with artist, Holly Drummond. You will learn to create beautiful, colorful paper wreaths $15 (or $25 for both workshops). Call the center for a supplies list for the Wreath workshop (should be under $10). Limited space: Register: 812-876-3383, xt 515. Sponsored by the IAC, NEA, Community Foundation and Ivy Tech.
  • 13th – Red Kettle Run – Jingle Bell 5K, Sat, December 13, 10am – 12pm, Showers Plaza at 8th Street and the B Line Trail , This fun 5K supports the Salvation Army Red Kettle Bell Ringers and brings awareness to the need for volunteers. Please click here for race information and registration
  • 19th – Christmas Village After Dark, Owen County State Bank, Main Office – Spencer, Friday, December 19, 2014, 6:30PM-8:00PM, Cash and/or canned food donations accepted, this year’s donations go to United Methodist Food Pantry, Cookies will be served and a special appearance by Santa Claus.
  • 21st – Christmas with the Annie Moses Band! The acclaimed Annie Moses Band is coming to Sherwood Oaks Christian Church for a one-night only concert featuring Christmas music, bluegrass and more! Join us December 21 at 7:00pm in the Worship Center for this spectacular night of music. Tickets are $13 for adults, $8 for kids 5-12 and free for kids under 5.  Tickets can be purchased at the Sherwood Oaks Bookstore or at socc.org/annie-moses-tickets. For more information, contact 812.334.0206
