Hang On…
Michael McRobbie named 17 people to a search committee yesterday to find a new Vice President of Research.
Interestingly enough, not one member on this 17 person committee was from the athletic department.
Now, I am not aware of how university policy functions, so forgive me.
But I clearly remember EVERY time IU has a committee put together to search for a new football, basketball or athletic director, there are faculty members included in the search.
It is appalling that Indiana University does not incorporate athletic coaches in their search for a Vice President of Research.
Do you mean to tell me that an economics professor is more qualified to help select a basketball coach than the water polo coach is in helping select a Vice President?
Just come out and say it: Athletes and athletic coaches live in their own world and should be left alone.
Except when they are selecting people to run the ATHLETIC part of the university, then they need your help.
